In Piastów, near Warsaw, a new educational space for students in grades 1-6 is under construction. The school’s interior design, developed by ZIKZAK Architects, combines functionality and aesthetics. So what will this new modern international school, so eagerly awaited by Ukrainians in Poland, look like?

Conceptually, the space is implemented in a soft minimalist style with emphasis on tactility and natural materials. The designers applied the principle of “invisible pedagogy” – where the architectural environment itself becomes a learning tool. This is achieved through well-thought-out space ergonomics, intuitive navigation, and stimulating visual elements. The planning solution is based on a flexibility-first concept: transformed zones can easily adapt to different educational scenarios.

The interior color palette is built on nuanced combinations of warm natural shades: from light wood to terracotta and olive. Gradient color transitions in wall and floor design create a sense of spatial continuity and fluidity. Measured accents of orange enliven the space, promoting concentration and activity without overwhelming attention.

“We were creating not just a school, but an environment for growth and development,” says Alesia Karnaukhova. “Every detail here works towards the main goal – to make learning an exciting and comfortable process.”
In the art space, modular furniture and mobile partitions allow quick reconfiguration of rooms for different class formats – from individual work to group workshops. It is organized on the principle of an “open studio,” where each zone smoothly flows into another, forming a unified creative space. Children find interactive elements, such as modular poufs, both interesting and tactilely pleasant. Built-in alcove niches with integrated storage systems are designed as fairy-tale houses and marshmallow-like arches, creating a cozy atmosphere and stimulating imagination.

The finishing uses ecological materials with high durability ratings: natural veneer, durable compact laminate, and pleasant-to-touch textiles. The vinyl flooring has a special anti-slip and antibacterial coating and meets safety requirements for children’s facilities.
Nova Akademika is an environment where interior design becomes an active participant in the educational process. Every design solution is subordinate to this goal: from the overall spatial concept to the smallest details.
