The design of Skogur Wellness & Spa became a challenge for us to create not just an infrastructural component of the resort, but a true place of power. In this project, we implemented a new approach to the recreational complexes, where the focus shifted from external spectacle to deep physical and mental rejuvenation of guests.

Concept: The Language of the Forest
SKÓGUR is not just a forest. It is a living being with its own language that can be felt through the skin: through wind, through the rhythms of trees, clay and shadow.

Interior Design of SPA and Wellness Areas
The space guides the guest gradually from external noise to inner silence. To slow down the rhythm, we used rounded columns, smooth curves of walls and soft lines in the premises. Lighting acts as the director of the atmosphere: luminaires with photolenses project abstract silhouettes resembling the shadows of branches, emphasising the connection between the wellness space and nature.
The route begins at the reception and lounge area, which feels more like a cosy living room deep in the forest than a hotel lobby. The soft forms of the furniture and the live fire of the fireplace create an atmosphere of safety, setting the tone for an unhurried rhythm of stay. For active recovery, yoga and sports rooms are provided, designed in a light colour palette.

Functional zoning of the aqua zone
The heart of the SPA project is a spacious pool, where water and light are the main design elements. Lighting scenarios shift the mood from morning invigoration to evening tranquillity. In the saunas, panoramic windows blur the boundary between the interior and the Carpathian forest, allowing guests to contemplate the landscapes during treatments.

We paid special attention to the thermal block, which combines a sauna and bathhouse. This is a space for deep warming and cleansing. In the sauna interior, we used panoramic windows that blur the boundary between the room and the Carpathian forest, allowing you to contemplate the landscapes whilst recovering. Natural finishing materials enhance the tactile sensations and the environmental friendliness of the space.

Features of Medical Spa Design
We paid particular attention to the zoning and design of the Medical Spa, consciously moving away from the sterile “hospital” aesthetic. We created a therapeutic space filled with warmth and tactile comfort. Here, surrounded by natural textures and soft lighting, medical procedures are perceived not as treatment, but as part of deep relaxation.

Designing sports areas and yoga studios
For active recovery, we have developed the design of a fitness space and yoga studio. In contrast to the dark, intimate relaxation areas, these spaces are designed in a light, clean palette that promotes concentration.
Modern equipment, clear architectural rhythm and natural lighting maintain the balance between body and mind. The interior of the sports hall is designed so that nothing distracts from the process, transforming physical exercise into a kind of dynamic meditation.

Skogur Wellness & Spa is a response to the need for mental rehabilitation. It is an example of modern resort property where design works to create a sense of security. A place of power from which guests emerge renewed — both physically and mentally.
