The success of a dental clinic lies not only in the availability of professionals and the use of advanced treatment technologies. In a good clinic, both patients and staff feel equally comfortable. Dentistry design plays an important role in this.
Changing the interior solves two problems at once:
1) Creation of a cozy and comfortable environment;
2) Formation of a positive image.
In a children’s or family clinic, such bright accents are necessary to distract the attention of young patients. Ideally, if these accents are images of cartoon characters.
In order to properly design the design, it is important to take into account all the premises that are in dentistry:
1) Entrance group.
2) Reception.
3) Client area.
4) doctors’ offices.
5) Staff room.
6) Auxiliary and technical rooms.
In multidisciplinary clinics, it is very useful to plan rooms for specialized doctors, as well as an operating unit, physiotherapy department, an X-ray room, a laboratory, a sterilization room and other additional rooms.
It is important to properly separate the flows of patients, doctors and technicians.
For this there is such a solution as a double corridor. Each stream moves along its own route without crossing or interfering with each other.
The entrance group is the first thing that the patient sees when visiting the clinic. The sign and lobby must be in harmony with the interior design and kept perfectly clean. In addition, it is important to take into account the fact that the entrance group must be visible at any time of the day.
The front desk of dentistry plays no less important role than the dental office itself. It is this place that will be the start of a successful relationship between the patient and the clinic. It is better to place the reception desk opposite the entrance. Even if the space where the administrator’s workplace is located does not have large areas, it is important to make it as spacious and bright as possible. The client does not need to see what is at his workplace, and at the same time he could conveniently sit down to fill out documents, communicate with the administrator and other things.
The client area is the coziest place in dentistry. This is where the patient awaits his turn. The more comfortable it is for him, the less the patient will be afraid. The design of this area is usually calm, make the client feel at home.
It is better to prefer comfortable armchairs to sofas. This will preserve the client’s comfort zone.
And the placement of such things as a cooler, a coffee machine, a quiet TV, interesting magazines, will help the visitors of the dental clinic relax.
For family and pediatric dentistry, on the contrary, a brighter design is preferable. It is important to arrange everything so that little patients feel not only comfortable, but also fun. In such clinics, bright colors are an advantage. You can decorate the area in the style of a popular cartoon, add figures of characters, elements for the child’s occupation – play and areas for drawing. Having been in such an atmosphere, the little patient will forget about fear and will gladly return to such a clinic again.
The rooms where patients are received are the place where a cozy space is in harmony with high-tech equipment. The design of each dental office must be carefully thought out and correspond to the general theme of the clinic.
The offices are located in the same area and are located close to each other so that doctors can quickly move from one room to another.
When choosing a design project, special attention is paid to lighting. It is important not just to make the office light. The doctor must clearly see everything that is located in the operating area, where the patient enters and the space around him. At the same time, well-chosen color solutions of the doctor’s office design can reduce eye strain during work.
According to European standards, there are three zones in the dentist’s office, for each of which certain lighting requirements are provided:
1) E1 – the general area of the office, the illumination rate for which is at least 500 lux;
2) E2 – the preparatory zone where the doctor’s instruments are located, here the illumination must be at least 1000 lux;
3) E3 – operating area 20x30cm with illumination from 1600 to 2400 lux.
In addition, it is important to consider the color temperature and light reflectance from the ceiling and walls of the office.
